Dr. Moon Hakbeom, who received his Ph.D. in Physics from Pusan National University in Korea for his research on ReRAM devices, founded Nextron in 2007 based on his deep expertise of semiconductor processes and material analysis. His first product was a ‘surge absorber’, but encountered unexpected difficulties, he changed his direction to ‘developing a hydrogen gas sensor for diagnosing old transformers’ through collaboration with Hyundai Heavy Industries. However, after six years later, Nextron faced another crisis when Hyundai Heavy Industries withdrew from the business.
However, this crisis became the foundation for the birth and growth of Nextron. He focused on the measurement system he had built in-house during the hydrogen gas sensor development process and aimed to advance it and enter the overseas market. Dr. Jang Yunhyeong, the current CTO, joined and led the development of the ‘Micro Probe System’, which incorporated innovative miniaturization technology. This product has become Nextron’s flagship product and is driving the company’s growth.
Nextron established a branch in Paris to enter the European market and recruited Kim Young-Gil as the branch manager. Thanks to his passionate marketing efforts, the company grew rapidly. Currently, we operate branches in Europe (Paris) and the United States (Chicago) and a distributor in Japan, expanding their presence in the global market.
Nextron continues to invest in developing advanced research equipment that meets the needs of researchers, based on their core competencies in miniaturization, probing, and environmental control technologies. As a research-oriented company, we are transforming crises into opportunities and achieving innovation through bold R&D investments, emerging as a global research equipment company. We will continue to provide solutions needed by researchers with their spirit of endless innovation and challenge, and grow into a company leading the global market.
